S.I.F.E.L. founded in 1996 at Spigno Monferrato in the province of Alessandria is one of the main Italian companies specialized in the design, installation and maintenance of electric railway, tramway and subway traction systems. It is one of the most influential and qualified companies in this sector in Italy.

It has developed great skills in systems design and installation addressed to railway signalling and safety engineering, safety in rail gallery, included the system S.C.A.D.A. (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), telecommunications, data transmission and processing, electric energy distribution, lighting, air-conditioning, sanitary and fire-fighting systems, light – driving force in low-medium-high voltage, intrusion – fighting systems and access-control.

S.I.F.EL. S.p.A. possesses the financial and organizational requisites, as well as a fleet of about forty road vehicles and more than one hundred rolling stock vehicles (locomotives of various capacity, railway trucks with crane, ladder trucks with or without crane, cement mixer trucks, stringing trucks, platform cars, vaiacar and rail/road cement mixer trucks, recovery/coil trucks, self-propelled swing hangers) indispensable for the execution of the works. All machinery is equipped with safety devices and certifications needed for the railway circulation in accordance with the Italian current regulations.

S.I.F.EL. S.p.A. performs works in the whole Italian territory and it has also entered foreign markets with success, with an important work of electric traction in Morocco on the MARRAKESH - CASABLANCA line and maintenance activities on the Kénitra Ville - Sidi Kacem line as well the electric traction project regarding the third track between Zenata and Kenitra (90 Km); it was the first Italian company to build systems directly for the Moroccan Railway (ONCF - Office National des Chemins de Fer).

There are also ongoing works in Algeria for the construction of the electric traction systems on the Oued Tlelat - Tlemcen (130 Km) section of the new double track electrified Oued Tlelat - Moroccan Border railway line.
